About The Necklace

Solid Resin Teardrop Breastmilk Resin Necklace with gold plated jump hoop and your choice of 14k white, rose or yellow gold plated 18" necklace chain.

The pendant is completely made of resin and measures approximately 1cm wide by 1.5cm long in a pear/teardrop shape. The back is slightly curved so that if it flips while you are wearing it - it still looks absolutely gorgeous. 

This necklace can hold breastmilk, dried flowers, cremation ashes, dried placenta or umbilical cord (must be sent to us dried). Please visit Cor with Winnipeg Placenta at www.winnipegplacenta.com for local encapsulation options for placenta. 

Upgrade with an 18" 0.9mm 18k solid gold chain in white, rose or yellow gold for heirloom quality. 

What Comes With The Jewellery?

The necklace will come with a Prairie Keepsake embellished box with a card inside indicating whom the keepsake was created for, when it was preserved, what it was preserved with and whom or what it honours. 

If you would like: Tell us a little bit about your story to help create the perfect piece for you (ie. - if you spent time in the NICU, had a difficult time breastfeeding / pumping, suffered a loss, etc). The more I know about your story the better I can tailor your piece to be perfect for you.

Turn Around Time

Please note that this particular pendant takes a lot of time and care and normal turn around time is 8-10 weeks from keepsake arrival to us. The more keepsakes the pendant holds, the more layers of resin that need to be added = longer turn around time. A lot of resin, sand paper and time go into these necklaces and I promise they are worth waiting for!

Care Instructions

Please note that because these necklaces are full resin the resin comes in contact with your skin. If you have sensitive skin or plan to wear it daily, a plated resin necklace may be a better option for you. The plated option is better for daily wear as the oils in our skin can interact with the resin and cause it to yellow over time. 

Quality and Care

Please note that our jewellery will not turn your skin green. However, keep in mind rose and yellow gold plating is more likely than white plated jewellery to eventually scratch in spots if worn daily.

Solid gold jewellery will prevent this but cost reflects cost of materials due to its heirloom quality. Resin stones must be taken care of regardless of metal material as resin is likely to yellow or scratch if care instructions are not followed.

Real gemstones will be added to solid gold pieces only as this is done by a ring smith. 

Materials

Jewellery pieces are made using layers of 3A quality UV resin and 1:1 hardener and resin. Your keepsakes (such as breastmilk, cremation ashes, flowers, a lock of hair, dried umbilical cord, dried placenta, clothing fibres, special sand or soil, etc) are preserved within these layers of resin to create a stand alone stone / pendant or within the jewellery bezel.

Our rings consist of sterling silver or 14k gold plated sterling silver. We do have the option to purchase solid 14k gold pieces in white, yellow or rose gold.

Gemstones in plated rings are lab created cubic zirconia cabochons in corresponding birthstone colours. Real diamonds and other gemstones available in certain rings.

Our necklace chains are 14k gold plated sterling silver. Some jump hoops may contain brass alloy. All materials are nickel free.

Shipping & Returns

No returns or exchanges available due to the custom nature of the product.

Shipping within Canada:

  • Registered Mail: $10 CAD
  • Tracked Shipping: $18.50 CAD

Shipping to the United States:

  • Tracked Shipping: $12 CAD or approximately $8 USD (depending on the current exchange rate).

Orders with custom jewellery will ship within 6-8 weeks from the date that keepsake arrives.

DIY Jewellery Kits will ship within 1-2 weeks from purchase date.

Care Instructions

All resin jewellery should be handled with great care to prevent potential scratching and yellowing of the resin over time. Gold plated and sterling silver jewellery are prone to scratching / wearing if care is not taken.

Think of your jewellery piece as a prized heirloom handed down to you by your great grandmother - it should be saved and worn only for special occasions and not daily.

Every day use is at your risk and discretion. Certain activities however should be avoided to preserve the life of your resin jewellery:

1. Remove before showering or bathing
2. Avoid application of lotion while wearing
3. Remove before exercising or engaging in any activity that will cause excessive sweating
4. Avoid using perfume / harsh chemicals while wearing jewellery
5. Remove before sleeping

  • All Sales Final

    All jewellery created by Prairie Keepsake are custom pieces that hold DNA or special keepsakes. Once your supplies have been ordered in or work has begun on the jewellery piece, exchanges and refunds will not be issued.

  • Free Local Pickup

    If you live in Brandon or Winnipeg Manitoba we offer local pick up for free. Our home address will be given to you after purchase in your confirmation email. Please check your spam / promotions or junk folder.

  • Mailing Keepsakes

    The address to mail your keepsakes will be provided in an email to you once your purchase is complete. Please mail all breastmilk in a milk storage bag followed by two ziplock bags within each other and then into an envelope. Breastmilk does not need to be kept cold as it does not matter if it expires as it will be preserved to remove bacteria upon arrival.
